Russell Clark
Fly Fishing Consultant
Russell is the newest member of our staff but one of our more experienced. After 16 years at the Compleat Angler Bentleigh store, Russell joined us to talk more about his real passion, fly fishing. Since joining us we have quickly realised a wealth of knowledge that has become a valuable resource to our customers. Russ has fished locally and throughout Tasmania as much as anyone and you can be confident that when Russ shows you a secret fly pattern, it works!
Jim Allen
The Flyfisher Advisory
While not on the shop floor from day to day it is easy to feel the presence of founder Jim Allen when you tread the boards of the The Flyfisher. Ever the mentor to the younger team Jim's years of experience as a world traveller, flyfishing pioneer as well as his work in fisheries management and conservation are evident from the layout of the shop to the brands that are stocked. From icons like Hardy and Sage to the newcomers like Hatch reels it's easy to see Jim's influence. And while he may not be in the shop he is always close by for the staff to draw on that wealth of knowledge and experience. It would be fair to say there'd be few amongst us that could claim to spend more days fishing any given season.
Liam Morgan-Payler
Fly Fishing Consultant
You will find Liam helping us out from time to time during our busier periods. Which is a shame, because if we could pin him down full time we would! Liam enjoys his spare time for one obvious reason, he'd rather be fishing! Lifes to short and so Liam has pursued a less intensive working life allowing him the time to fish as much as possible. The highlands of Tasmania, Victoria's local waters and New Zealand are where you may bump into Liam. If you get the opportunity to have a chat with him, take note, because behind that baby face is one of Australia's most accomplished fly fisher's.
Peter Wilson
The Flyfisher Advisory
It's exciting to have Peter as part of our advisory. With regular developments in saltwater fly fishing such as targeting milkfish on fly, we couldn't have a better authority keeping us up to date. He was heavily involved with tournament casting from 1977 to 1982 and has won at various times Australian championship accuracy events, distance events and a record holder or equal record holder in the dry fly, wet fly, and skish. In more recent times he achieved third all round in the Champion of Champions. Since 2000, Peter has been organizing trips to New Zealand in the North and South Island working as a guide alongside some of New Zealand's best. He also hosts regular trips to Weipa and has extensive saltwater experience around Australia including the Northern Territory, Exmouth, Harvey bay and Hinchenbrook, offshore to the Coral Sea and Rowley Shoals. Peter is a member of the Sage Guides Team, a Certified Australian Casting Instructor, author, and all round great guy. If you need advice from an expert like Peter regarding Australia's saltwater fly fishing opportunity's or more, The Flyfisher has him here to help.
